Honda Sensing® is Honda’s suite of advanced driver-assistance and safety technologies designed to help prevent collisions, reduce driver stress, and enhance overall vehicle awareness. Standard or available on most Honda models across Canada, Honda Sensing combines radar, camera, and sensor-based systems to support the driver in everyday driving situations.
The Collision Mitigation Braking System helps reduce the severity of a collision—or potentially avoid it altogether—by automatically applying brake pressure when it detects a risk of frontal impact with a vehicle or pedestrian. If the driver doesn’t respond to visual and audible alerts, the system can initiate braking to minimize damage.
Road Departure Mitigation helps keep the vehicle within its travel lane. Using a forward-facing camera, RDM detects unintentional lane drift—such as when a driver is distracted or drowsy—and can apply corrective steering or braking to guide the vehicle back toward the center of the lane, reducing the risk of running off the road.
Unlike conventional cruise control, Adaptive Cruise Control maintains a set following distance from the vehicle ahead, adjusting speed automatically—even in stop-and-go traffic. The Low-Speed Follow feature allows the system to work effectively in heavy traffic or on congested highways, common in Canadian urban centers like Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal.
The Lane Keeping Assist System gently steers the vehicle back toward the center of its lane if it begins to drift without a turn signal activated. Using lane markings detected by the front camera, LKAS provides subtle steering input to help maintain lane position, contributing to a more relaxed and focused driving experience.
Available on newer Honda models, Traffic Sign Recognition uses a forward-facing camera to detect posted speed limit signs and displays the information on the driver information interface. This feature helps drivers stay aware of changing speed zones—particularly useful in construction zones or variable-speed school areas across Canada.
Together, these technologies make Honda Sensing a comprehensive and proactive safety system that supports drivers in a wide range of Canadian driving conditions, from icy winter roads to dense city traffic.
